Re: “Speech reactions highlight rift among Democrats on how to combat
Trump” (March 5, Nation & World Politics):
I have never been more ashamed to be a Democrat. This has been building
for quite some time but came to a head after the shenanigans at
President Donald Trump’s address to Congress on March 4.
The paddles, the pink suits, the no-shows and Rep. Al Green’s
performance. Did you see Washington Rep. Suzan DelBene try and not be
noticed?
Democrats, the party of Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and John F.
Kennedy, continue to prove they have no plan, they have no leader, they
have no clue. They no longer provide solutions and they do not even play
Trump’s game well. They think “resistance” is the answer.
The answer to Trump is to have solutions to the problems faced by
everyday Americans. Those problems are the economy (it isn’t working for
everyone), illegal immigration, crime/safety, mental health, illegal
drugs, homelessness and the deficit.
Until Democrats get a real leader, offer real solutions to the real
problems and quit trying to out-Trump Trump, they will continue to
flounder and ultimately so, too, will the country. Stunts and
obstruction aren’t the answer. Get it together!
